Quang Tri is mostly remembered for its historical places such as the Quang Tri ruins, the former demilitarized zone (DMZ) and the Vinh Moc Tunnels. During the last Vietnam War, the area was among the sites of the bloodiest battles in the conflict. Then, with its majestic stalactites, Phong Nha, a world heritage site recognised by UNESCO in 2003, is indeed waiting to be discovered. According to the Royal Society for Exploration of Caves, Phong Nha will be one of the new expedition spots for cave lovers all over the world. The best time lasts from April to early August.
